Setting how Notes checks for and announces new mail
You can set IBM® Lotus Notes® to check for new messages at an interval you specify when Notes® is running, and you can set Notes Minder to check for new messages when Notes is not running.

You can also set one or more notification methods for when new mail arrives.

Note: This topic describes notification only for Notes mail on a Domino® server and IMAP Online Internet mail. To receive new POP or IMAP Offline messages, replicate your mail.

To set how Notes checks for and announces new mail

1. Click File > Preferences > User Preferences.

2. Click Mail.

3. Click File > Preferences.

4. Click the plus sign beside Mail, and then click Sending and Receiving.

5. Select Check for new mail every minutes to have Notes check for new mail automatically, and then type a number of minutes to set the interval at which Notes checks for new mail.

To set how Notes Minder checks for and announces new mail

Use Notes Minder to check for new mail when Notes is not running.

1. Click Start, click All Programs, open your Lotus Applications folder, click Notes Minder, and then enter your Notes password when prompted to start Notes Minder.

2. Right-click the Notes Minder icon in the Windows taskbar and select Properties.

3. Do any of the following:

4. Type a number in the Check for Mail Every Minutes field to set the interval at which Notes Minder checks for new mail.

5. Click OK.
