NOTES CLIENT INSTALLATION AND UPGRADE
If you are upgrading to the current Notes release using an RPM or DEB install kit, and installed the earlier release with an ISMP installer uninstall the earlier release before installing the current release. This uninstall step is only required if you will be installing the current release using an RPM or DEB install kit.
DEB kit install instructions:
Notes is available as a deb install kit for installing on the Ubuntu platform. If you are upgrading from a pre-Notes 8.5 release, uninstall Notes using the uninstall utility provided with that release.
Note See the "Considerations before installing Notes on Linux" topic in this guide before proceeding.
1. Shut down all applications.
To be sure there are no Notes processes running, change to the Notes data directory and type the following command:
/opt/ibm/lotus/notes/nsd.sh -kill
3. As the root user, open a terminal window or file browser.
4. If you are obtaining the deb install kit from a Web downloads page, open your browser and navigate to the Web page from which to obtain the download.
5. Locate the Notes deb install kit and save it to your /root folder.
7. Navigate to the directory that contains the unpacked deb files.
